Bhaktapur Paradise Hotel

The owner was kind and friendly, and the family run hotel seems thoughtfully set up for travelers. He also does trekking. It’s in a good spot, a little away from the city traffic, and the views are a big reward. On a clear day, seeing the snowy mountains is a simple but awesome experience. I’d very much return for another stay like this.

The place is beautiful and has real potential, but poor upkeep and service made our stay extremely unpleasant. There was a distinct stench as soon as we entered, the rooms weren’t maintained well, and the bathrooms were barely clean. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. I hope the owners and management take this seriously and make some changes.

I stayed here before and after my Everest Base Camp trek, and it was wonderful both times. The family runs the hotel, and their attention to detail shows. It’s very clean, the staff are excellent, the electricity is reliable, and the WiFi was the best I had in Nepal. The hotel sits on a hill above Bhaktapur, within walking distance of the historic town. It’s also a good place to get away from Kathmandu’s bustle, noise, and dust. I can’t recommend it enough.

The quiet, comfortable stay was exactly what we needed before and after trekking to Kanchenjunga Base Camp. From the restaurant, I spent hours looking out at the mountains and fields below, and the hotel’s beautiful hilltop setting overlooks all of Bhaktapur. It’s a short walk into town. The staff were exceptionally friendly and always ready to go out of their way to help. When we’re back in Nepal, we’ll stay here again.
