Hotel Four Eyes

This was one of our worst experiences in Nepal. When we arrived, a man at reception said there was hot water, so we agreed to pay 1500 rupees for a room with two beds. But the shower had no hot water. That evening there was an electricity problem they couldn’t fix, and we spent the whole evening in the dark. People in the lobby made a lot of noise all night. Then at 5 AM, the guest house workers put music on at full volume in the lobby and woke us up. We decided to leave as soon as possible and find another guest house. We asked to pay 1000 instead of 1500 because there was no hot shower as promised, loud people all night, no electricity, and the 5 AM music. The receptionist refused. Don’t go there or support this kind of business.

The staff are friendly and helpful, and the food and drinks are very well priced. We especially liked the steamed Momo's, Vegetable Burger and Banana Lassi. Recommended if you’re staying in Thamel, Kathmandu!

It’s cheap at 800k/night, so you get what you pay for. We stayed two days before trekking. They kept our luggage for free while we were away, which was helpful. The room was small, with just a fan and a shared bathroom outside, and they put us on the 6th floor, a climb with no lift. The bedsheet was dirty; they changed it when we asked, though they seemed unhappy about it. Staff understand some restored English.

I kept thinking I should give it one star, then decided it didn’t even deserve that. The staff were extremely rude and uncooperative. They wouldn’t give us an extra blanket, even if we paid. The tap water was extremely dirty and smelled foul. I asked around 15 times for someone to check it, and was rudely told it would just be like that. The room phone didn’t work either, and they said the same about that. They didn’t provide soap for hand-washing or a hand towel when I asked. One staff member wouldn’t listen and acted as if he were the guest and we were the ones visiting. Staff were busy drinking the whole time. You’ll be extremely disappointed if you go here. Don’t even consider it.
