Hotel Lotus Gems

On my second business trip here, I still can't imagine a better place to call home for a few weeks in Kathmandu. The location is wonderful, just a three-minute walk through a lively neighborhood to the Great Stupa, with easy transport connections elsewhere. The front desk, dining room, kitchen, rooftop garden cafe, and housekeeping staff are all attentive and gracious. It's spotlessly clean, with beautiful Buddhist artwork presented authentically. Hot water is reliable, the beds are comfy, and the complimentary breakfast buffet has plenty of dishes to choose from. Do yourself a favor and stay here.

It's in an excellent spot near the stupa, but the rooms feel a bit dated. The elevator also seems to have been out of order for quite a while.

Boudhanath stupa is an easy walk from the hotel, and there are lots of Buddhist paintings around. My little sister at customer service was especially kind and cute, and helped me a lot during my stay.

The rooms are extremely clean and comfortable, and the staff are exceptionally helpful. This is one of the most beautiful hotels in all of Nepal, and the customer service is extraordinary. I had some trouble with the internet on one stay, but when I came back, they were accommodating and gave me a room with a better connection. It was quieter then too, and the internet worked fine. My favorite place to stay in Kathmandu.
