Hotel Metropolitan Kantipur

The only snag was the Wi-Fi in my room. It may have been because I was at the far end, but the signal didn’t reach well. I stayed for a week and loved it otherwise: the room was clean, spacious, and really nice, and the staff were so friendly. They’d go out of their way to greet me and help with what I needed, which made the stay special. Breakfast was wholesome, too. There’s a vegan restaurant right next door, and I ate there every day. The food was amazing.

We spent more than two months here and never got a stomach ache from the food. The meals are classic Nepali dishes, so it’s a great fit if you want to try the local food. The owners and staff were also very helpful with suggestions for things to do and places to eat. The garden where meals are served is green, quiet, and cozy, and the rooftop view across Kathmandu is magical. Our room was nice, and the service was absolutely great. Metropolitan Kantipur is a lovely hotel, with especially nice owners. It sits right in the middle of Thamel, a busy tourist area with plenty to do, places to eat, and souvenir shops. Several important cultural and religious sites are nearby, too, if you want to explore. We had a magical stay at Metropolitan Kantipur Hotel, and I wholeheartedly recommend it for a trip to Kathmandu.

The price felt far too high for what we got. It may be a three-star hotel, but it’s run down and looks as if it’s never been renovated. The furniture and TV are very old, and the sheets and towels weren’t clean. There are 25+ rooms, but when I was there it was literally empty of other guests. If you want to be alone, that might suit you.

We were so glad to find Metropolitan Kantipur Hotel for our couple of nights in town. The welcome was warm, and we felt well looked after. It’s in a convenient spot, yet still very peaceful. 😊👍
