Hotel Potala

I liked the food and ambience at the hotel's restaurant, which has a variety of menu options. The staff were nice, the room comfortable, and the price cheap. It's conveniently near the main road of thamel, though right next to a bar where the music plays all day. I extended my booking for several more days while I was there. You can arrange an airport taxi through the hotel for 7 dollars.

I liked having the roof top restaurant, and the place itself is nice, but I wouldn't recommend the hotel for several reasons. The rooms and beds are a little small, and the washroom taps are somewhat rusty. Service was okay, I guess. In the middle of thamel, right beside purple haze, it felt too quiet and a little creepy to me. You can find better options for the price.

They made sure I was looked after and helped me organize everything so I could get back in time for a family member's funeral. I'll never forget how helpful they were. The staff were the best I've ever encountered, especially the night guard, who'll always have a special place in my heart.

The staff were outgoing and friendly, especially Dave, who helped me and others sort out trekking passes, clothing, flights, and plenty more. I was picked up at the airport, and my driver immediately filled me in on the local area. It was my first time in Nepal, and I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. I'll definitely stay here again.
