The internet worked, and most of the employees did try to be helpful. The momo’s were tasty, but don’t leave them out even for ten minutes while you use the bathroom, or the roaches may get to them. Those are the only reasons I’m giving this two stars. Cockroaches were my biggest concern from the start. They were in the bathroom and on my bed, with droppings around my pillow. I asked for fresh sheets and pillowcases, but they didn’t have any, which left me wondering if the old ones were being reused without washing. It took a day before staff could move me. The other room was right by heavy traffic, and I thought the noise would keep me awake even more than the roaches, so I went back to the infested room. Noise was a problem there too. For the first two days I woke up at least every two hours, either to someone yelling inside or outside, doors slamming, people clattering up the stairs, or cleaners loudly throwing their brooms on the floor. A rooster called from 6 a.m. until 2 p.m. or possibly later, dogs barked constantly, and traffic and honking carried through the windows, which definitely weren’t soundproof. It was a terrible area and a terrible hotel. The shower never gave hot water. At best, late at night, it might reach room temperature and be bearable to get into. I tried to give the place the benefit of the doubt, thinking maybe these conditions were normal in the city, but three days later I moved to another hotel and it was nothing like this. I also posted photos and videos of the cockroaches and the daily foot slamming, which can be heard in the video.

The bed was comfortable enough, and the room had a decent amount of space. But the windows faced a noisy street, there was an unpleasant smell, and the bathroom was dirty, with a moldy, broken door. We had a poor stay at Hotel Rosemary Homes and definitely wouldn’t return.

There was a loud, intermittent vibration throughout the building, like drilling, shaking the bed day and night. Bugs were everywhere: roaches, spiders, ants, and mosquitoes, with roaches crawling across the bed all night. The bathroom seemed to get hosed out rather than properly washed, so it never dried. The toilet had no seat, there was no mirror, and the sink was completely blocked. When the man at the counter came to fix the sink, I mentioned the missing seat and he just laughed. He barely spoke English and didn’t seem to understand the online booking either. Breakfast was included in my booking, but the next morning they said it wasn’t. This place is cheap for a reason. For the same price, or even a couple of bucks more, there are much better options.

We left after the first night, even though we’d booked three days. We’re not usually fussy, but this was a backpacker’s nightmare. The sheets had holes and smelled of greasy hair and sweaty feet, like they hadn’t been washed in ages. The bathroom was moldy and falling apart, and the cigarette smell was overwhelming. Cockroaches were everywhere. Backpackers, don’t book here. The reviews are a lie!

After hiking from ABC, we got a room on the third floor. There’s no elevator, so getting up the building felt like another hike.
