Zostel Kathmandu

The café was a highlight for me. Its big shared tables made it easy to meet people, even if it could get a little rowdy. Things quieted down around 11pm, and being on a side street kept the hostel away from the busy roads. My dorm was spotless, with fresh sheets, a really comfortable mattress, and just four bunks, so I had room to myself. The air conditioning was included, which felt like a real luxury in Kathmandu, where heating is a luxury too. Staff were friendly and helpful. I paid 750 Nepali Rupees per night, plus 50 NPR to rent a towel. I would’ve liked coffee or tea included, though I’m being picky. This was my second stay in a Zostel, and I enjoyed both hostels equally.

The bed was super comfortable, and having the bathroom right in the room was handy. I’d recommend the place, but I’d ask for a room other than 304. Mine was at the back, possibly near a generator or something similar, and the noise carried on through the night and kept disturbing me.

The food at Zostel’s food court was really good, though I wasn’t sold on the local cuisine. There’s hot water all day and night, and every bunk has its own reading light so you don’t bother anyone else. The dorm stays lively, with foreigners coming and going, so it never gets too dull. Staff were super friendly, too. For me, it’s the best hostel in town, and I’m sure you’ll enjoy your stay at Zostel.

The rooftop was being worked on when I stayed, but it should be really nice once it’s done. The place already has what you need, including good WiFi, laundry, food, water, and hot showers. I had excellent food and breakfast, and the staff were kind. It’s also a nice spot to meet people, whether you’re heading out for a trek or just getting back from one.
