Hotel Triratna

The room was so noisy that we couldn't shut the windows, no matter what we tried. There was no hot water at all. When we asked reception, the guy gave us excuses about maintenance. We met other trekkers who said they'd been robbed in their room, so be careful with your hard-earned money. Breakfast came late, even after we called a few times, and it was tasteless and expensive for what it was. One employee told us he was forced to add positive reviews here. It felt shady, and we'd never go back. There are much better hotels nearby. We left quickly.

I stayed here once in 2022 and again in 2024. The building has had some renovation, but the staff service has gone downhill over the years. The single room without an attached bathroom cost 800 NPR. That option was sold out, so for just one night I took a single room with an attached bathroom for 1800 NPR. The service was awful, though, because there was no hot water. When I asked staff early in the morning, around 6AM, they said there was no hot water at the moment. It seemed like hot water was supplied only when convenient for them, rather than when a guest asked for it. I regretted staying this time.

For the price, it's worth it. If you're looking for a cheap hotel in KTM/Thamel, it's a good choice. The beds were always clean and comfortable, and the shared bathroom was cleaned daily by staff. The water was warm sometimes. I'd have liked the room floor to be cleaned more carefully, and people shouldn't smoke in the hotel.

The location was the best part, and the bed was good too. They were fully booked, so I ended up with a bigger, better room than the one I had booked. There was hot water for showers, though my room's bathroom could have been cleaner.
