Kathmandu Grand Hotel

The rooftop terrace is worth the climb if you have the time and stamina. From up there you get a view of the city and surrounding hills. If you've managed the 300+ steps to the monkey temple, the hotel's stairs are no big deal. Just keep in mind there's no lift, so traveling light helps if you don't want to haul luggage up 4 or 5 floors. The rates are very competitive, and the rooms are clean with decent WiFi. There's a good breakfast, a welcome drink at check-in, and friendly staff who provide great service. The location is handy too, with plenty of shops, eateries, and ATMs nearby. This hotel is a gem.

I was impressed with the staff, service, and food. I spent three days here before my trek to Mera Peak and a few more days afterward in October 2024. Reception also changed my room without any hassle or extra charge. The hotel is very central to lots of outdoor stores and tourist attractions.

The exchange office is next door, with two great spas nearby, and the location is great. The shower and bathroom are good. Breakfast is exceptional, and this is a fine hotel. My highest recommendation.

The rest of the staff were courteous, quick to respond, and always willing to help. Cleanliness, hospitality, and comfort all exceeded what we expected. Highly recommended for a visit to Kathmandu.
