For an affordable, comfortable stay, this hotel covers the basics well. The room was simple but maintained, the bed was cozy, and the place was clean. Staff were polite and helpful, and getting transport nearby was easy thanks to the convenient location. Breakfast tasted good, though the selection was limited, and service slowed down during busy times. There aren’t luxury facilities, but the essentials are there. I had a good experience and would give it 5 out of 5.

I’m visually impaired and have been a regular customer at New Panda Hotel. My earlier visits were generally acceptable, and I had no major complaints. The owner has always been respectful and professional. This recent visit, though, was deeply upsetting because of the reception staff member Abhash. When he tried to guide me, he physically pushed me as if I were an object. He didn’t seem to understand how to assist someone with visual impairment. I politely explained that this wasn’t the right or respectful way to help, but instead of apologizing, he scolded me. I had already paid by QR scanner and was waiting for my taxi when he forced me out of the hotel and left me at the roadside, even though he knew I was visually impaired. With traffic, cold weather, and my vulnerability, it felt extremely unsafe. When I asked why I couldn’t wait inside and whether there was a sofa or waiting area, he became aggressive and threatening. I felt humiliated and insecure. This treatment of a paying guest, especially someone with a disability, is unacceptable and falls short of basic hospitality, dignity, and decency. I strongly do NOT recommend the hotel to anyone, especially people with disabilities, as long as this mannerless and insensitive staff member remains at reception. Management must act immediately, provide disability sensitivity training, and make sure this never happens again. Respect, safety, and dignity should never be optional in hospitality.

I always feel at home here. The rooms are clean, the beds are super comfy, and Santosh and the rest of the staff are so friendly and welcoming. Check-in is always quick and easy, and the rooftop is a favorite of mine. It’s great for sunsets, and on clear days you can see the tips of the Himalayas. The location works really well, just outside thamel, with cafes, ATMs, and mini marts close by. And honestly, I’ve never had a better hot shower in Kathmandu. Thanks, guys. I’ll keep coming back!

I liked how quiet the room was, since it faced away from the road, and it was clean with a hot shower. The hotel is family-run, with the family living next door, and has an authentic feel. There’s a shrine by the entrance where you can hear people ringing bells during puja. It’s right by all the Thamal shops. The staff were really friendly and helpful with taxis, breakfast, and storing luggage. There’s a lift, a rooftop terrace with great views of Kathmandu, Monkey Temple, and the hills, plus free water refills in the lobby. I’d stay here again.

The rooftop was a welcome break from the busy streets, with a lovely view of Swayambhunath. I stayed here for about eight days across three visits on my last trip to Nepal. It’s a great budget hotel in a handy Thamel location, and the staff are wonderful. I’m heading back to Nepal in December ’25 and plan to stay here again.
