The Inn Patan

The young men on duty did everything they could to make guests happy. The food and service were great, and The Inn Patan has so much character. It felt comfortable, like being at home away from home.

The drinks were awful. The hot chocolate was the worst I’ve ever had, and I couldn’t tell whether the cheesecake was spoiled or just badly made. Staff were absent the whole time, with no service or attention. There wasn’t any water, even bottled, or tissues, side plates, or anything else provided. This was the most disappointing dining experience I’ve had in Patan, and the worst one too.

The architecture and design were stunning, especially our large top-floor room with its terrace and view. The staff were friendly, and breakfast was okay, though basic. Bread instead of toast would have been nice, along with vegan milk options for coffee. The bigger issue was cleanliness. The room needed more attention, particularly the bathroom. After our first night, I asked staff to clean the shower, but it wasn’t done. There were spiders and webs, hairs on the shower floor, and lots of soap stains on the fixtures. It clearly hadn’t been cleaned.

For the premium prices, I expected fresh food and prompt service, but The Inn Patan provided neither. We had to call staff over repeatedly before getting water, side plates, or napkins. The club sandwich came with tiny bread, and the side salad was stale and lifeless, clearly past its best. We came expecting the “hidden gem” people talk about and found neglect instead. I won’t recommend it or return.
