Hotel Garuda Inn

Everything was perfect for me at this hotel on Pokhara lake side. Best hotel!

We were booked here for our whole time in Pokhara, Nepal by our tour guide. The stay was fine at first, though nothing amazing, but then the receipt issue left us uneasy and distrustful. They wouldn’t give us a receipt, and I saw my guide and the person in charge debating in their language about what rate to put on it. I wanted a receipt, then found out the price had changed. Be careful, check everything, and don’t trust right away. There’s no elevator, either, so hauling luggage up the stairs was tiring, especially after hiking and trekking in Nepal. Coming back to more stairs was crazy.

The bed mattress was broken, only one bulb in the room worked, and there was no hot water. There’s no lift or intercom, so you have to go downstairs for room service. Breakfast took 1. & Half hour after we ordered. The boys speak very sweetly, but you pay for a room to relax and enjoy, and this didn’t deliver. The online listing said lake view room and mountain view, which was completely lie. From the window there was only a building view. Do not recoend l.

I stayed one night before my trek and another after, and Shadu looked after me so well. He kept checking I was okay, whether my taxi had arrived, and told me to call if I needed help. The location is great, close to the pier for the boat to the temple. Between the hotel and the main road there’s everything from hiking shops to a pharmacy.
