We slept really well here. It's a quiet spot, and the rooms stayed cool even in June, with windows on several sides. The internet wasn't the strongest, but it did what we needed. Rooms are on the small side, though clean, attractive, and well maintained. We liked the balcony seating and the peaceful location, with plenty of good local restaurants nearby. This end of Lakeside felt more authentic and local to us than the other end. Breakfast was included and tasty: an egg, two slices of toast, sautéed potatoes with onions, tomatoes, and bell peppers, butter, jam, and tea. The staff were incredibly kind and friendly, though their English was somewhat limited.

We really enjoyed staying here. It's good value, with a lovely, friendly family atmosphere, and the people are readily helpful. The cooking is tasty, and I reckon they could easily sell it to us more often. P.S. From the back door, the quickest way to the lake is the narrow garden path on the left as you walk outside.

When I stayed here in Dec 2024, I had a great experience with host Anil. I came back in Jan 2026, but this time it wasn't as good. That's all I can say.

Our room had two windows facing another house, so it was a bit dark, but we didn't spend much time inside and it was fine. The room was nice and clean, and the family were very kind and always happy to give tips. Hotel Hakoniwa is on a quiet street close to shops and restaurants.

For a two-star hotel, this is just right for trekkers, young travelers, or families trying to save money. The staff are very kind, the food is excellent, and it's near the lake in a quiet area. There's a great mountain view, too.
