Da Yatra Courtyard Hotel & Resort

The food was fresh and good, and I really enjoyed my four days here. The location is nice, the rooms were clean, and service was good. I’ll definitely visit again. Special thanks to Mr Arjun and Mr Binay Gautam at the front office, especially Mr Binay Gautam, who was very kind and helpful.

The hotel is centrally located, and the Wi-Fi did work, though it was extremely slow. Some older furnishings did still work and didn’t look especially rustic, but the side tables were dusty and should have been wiped down. There’s no charge for everything, including the complimentary water bottles, despite what one claim said. A few other reports checked out. The room we booked was meant to have two single beds, but we got one double bed instead, and they couldn’t change it because there was no housekeeping staff available. We arrived around 5:30, and there still wasn’t housekeeping. They had run out of extra blankets, and our key card suddenly stopped working. Several wall sockets didn’t work either, apart from the ones for the TV/router and in the bathroom. Staff said twice that someone would come, but nobody did. The AC wasn’t broken, but it’s centrally controlled, with no way for guests to set the temperature. It runs at whatever temperature the hotel chooses, and that wasn’t ideal. Breakfast had an okay selection, but everything was cold. The coffee was mild and not hot. There was hair in an omelette from the live counter, and in another dish too. The chef wore a hat, but the hair was there somehow. Plates should be cleaned or warmed and checked before food goes on them. I didn’t see anything ghostly myself, but while I was leaving my room I heard a commotion between staff and guests. They said the hallway lights had gone out, which was true when we entered, so we had to use phone torches. They also said someone knocked on their door at night on several occasions, but nobody was there when they opened it. The staff member seemed scared and didn’t handle the situation well or reassure them. The windows weren’t sealed properly either, and they vibrated when music played at a nearby place. There’s a lot of potential here, but it isn’t being used fully. Some small fixes and better use of resources are needed. Still, five stars for the effort.

The manager and hotel staff were very friendly, and the breakfast spread was generous. Our room was spacious too. We spent two days here last week while visiting Pokhara, though we went to Nagarkot early one morning and got back at night. I liked the hotel and would visit again.

Good hotel in a good location, and the service was really, really good. They just need to add more stuff and a swimming pool. I’d like to visit again.
