Baber Mahal Vilas

We tried four hotels around Kathmandu during our week in Nepal, including Dwarika’s, and my partner and I both thought Baber Mahal was easily the best. For the price, the amenities, service and food felt like a five-star experience. The property is huge and gorgeous, with libraries, rooftops, rooftop pools, steam rooms, and lovely shops and restaurants. Breakfast came with the stay and there was plenty of it. You could choose from a menu and have anything on it. The rooms were comfortable enough, though the shower didn't drain properly and flooded the bathroom. If I come back, this will be my go-to, and I'd recommend it to anyone visiting Kathmandu.

The rooms are spacious, well equipped, and come with extra balcony space. The value is incredible, and the accommodation itself feels top class. Service was an easy five stars compared with anywhere else I’ve been. Being in Nepal and feeling safe, well cared for, and getting such great value made for a really emotional experience. It’s definitely a bucket list place that makes you appreciate what you have back home. Thank you, Nepali People. 🙏

We loved how central the hotel is, surrounded by interesting shops, bars, and restaurants. The service made us feel at home, though breakfast could use more options and was a little bland. The room was spacious and lovely, and the paintings and antiques were fascinating. Every corner seems to tell the building’s history. One of the most beautiful boutique hotels we’ve ever stayed in.

A calm little refuge from the bustle of Katmandu, and a great place to stay during a stopover. The historic building has been restored with real care, keeping its authentic feel instead of looking flashily updated. Rooms and bathrooms were comfortable and well equipped. The staff were so friendly and helpful, especially at reception and breakfast. Thanks for looking after us.
