Hotel Harmony

The host was very attentive, and the place felt cozy with a view of the lake. I had running water with good pressure, even on the top floor, and the water was excellent during my stay. Complaints about hot water can be misleading: that’s a general issue in Nepal sometimes, rather than something unique to this place.

The host family was aggressive and rude, even though they could have handled things calmly. The man hosting us started a dispute at 1am, saying they had to pay rent to the actual owner and needed more money. They then told us the nightly price had jumped from rs900 to rs1600, with no prior agreement. Earlier, they complained that simply parking our scooter made too much noise, which felt like an excuse to argue. I’ve heard the same complaints about their behavior from a lot of other people. I didn’t feel this guest house was safe, and there are plenty of better places in Pokhara.

Be careful with your belongings here. The owner offered to buy me an electric kettle, then kept the 2000 NPR change and claimed it was special. I later found the same kettle in a shop for 850 NPR. He also seems to manipulate the scale when charging for overpriced laundry. I wouldn’t go there.

The property is decent for the price, but I only got hot water on one of my three nights. The manager said the solar system wasn’t working because of rain, even though there was an electric heater that he didn’t want to use. He’s strict and rude, and didn’t make us feel welcome, which cost it another point. I’d rate this stay 3/5.
