Hotel Virgin Pokhara

We booked one night for December 31 through Goibibo for 1100 NPR, but when we arrived, the management said they had no booking under our name and no rooms available. Since it was New Year's Eve, they said private rooms were in high demand and cost 3000 to 4000 NPR. It seemed clear to us that they were turning us away because our booking was for 1100 NPR. They kept saying there was no booking, but offered to arrange a room if we paid at least 3000 NPR. The staff were rude and behaved badly toward guests. When we asked to see the booking list, they refused. We asked them to call the owner, but they said the landline wasn't working and they had no phone credit. They eventually gave us a written statement that they couldn't find our booking, but it had no seal or stamp. This was the worst and most pathetic experience I've had. Before booking online, tourists should think it over several times. The management seemed money-minded and unhelpful.

The staff went out of their way to help me, including driving me to see a doctor and helping with other things. The rooms were very clean, and the ensuite was the cleanest I've seen in Nepal. It's a bit tricky to find the hotel, but the main drag is an easy five-minute walk away. Room service was available, and I thought it was great value for money.

After our first Airbnb booking, the towels and sheets came back with a bunch of stains that were almost impossible to remove, so we needed bleach. We'd started out with sheets in cool designs and different colors, with the same idea for the towels. It took us well over a year and more than 40 bookings to find the best Airbnb towels and sheets for our needs, and they were the cheapest.

They welcomed us warmly and made the hotel feel like a good place to stay. It was a fabulous hotel experience in Pokhara, and we left without any disappointment. Great hotel.
