The roof leak was the worst part: water dripped onto a bed and the clothes I’d left there. Mosquitoes also bit us overnight, even though the windows had screens. The shower did have very hot water, and the family was kind, though Ishur came across as pushy, or perhaps just very enthusiastic. The road had been paved two years earlier, and traffic was loud during the day. Ishur said nights would be quiet, but we found them even noisier. Then a four-hour thunderstorm hammered the metal roof so loudly it felt like being in a tunnel with a freight train coming at us. My watch showed only 2 1/2 hours of sleep, which sounds about right. The thali set was decent, though there wasn’t much choice. Breakfast was another frustration: my wife expected a pancake instead of toast, but toast arrived. Ishur said she’d first asked for a pancake and then changed to a “simple breakfast.” She replied that pancakes were included in that option. The menu seemed to list eggs, two toast or pancake, hash browns, fruit, and coffee. Maybe it meant two eggs with toast, or a pancake, though we read it as two eggs plus toast or a pancake, which seemed more reasonable. It wasn’t a good stay, so we left right after breakfast.

The owner and staff made the place feel like home, and the owner went out of his way to make our stay meaningful. We were also connected with a trekking guide who took us on the Mardi trek for a very affordable price. From the property there’s a lovely view of nearly all the mountains in sight, and the Peace Stupa is a short walk away. We did hear someone else say the comfort here was so miraculous you wouldn’t want to leave, and that really rang true for us. Even though it’s by the road, things get very quiet in the evening and at night. This is easily the best place I’ve stayed in Nepal, and I’m definitely coming back to Pokhara.

The room was nice, but I was charged an extra 700 rupees to have food brought to our door, when all the food we ordered came to around 2000 rupees. I wish the charges had been clearer upfront. Staff also knocked while we were napping, which made the stay feel short on privacy.

The homestay sits close to the road, and the noise was sometimes a bother. Still, it’s a beautiful place with an amazing view, and the owners are a very cheerful family. I had a good experience here. Thank you so much for the hospitality!

The food was superb, much of it apparently coming from their own organic garden, and the family and staff were incredibly kind. Set on the hill above Pokhara, the place is peaceful, with lovely walks in every direction. When the sky clears, the mountain view is almost unbelievable. I wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else.
