The White Lake Hotel

This was my fifth trip to Nepal and third to Tansen, and I stayed here on 3 July 2024. I've never had a worse hotel experience. At first things seemed fine, but once we'd paid the advance, they turned off the Wi-Fi and cut the electricity from midnight until morning. There was no hot water in the bathroom either. When we raised that at reception, they told us that's just how it is, whether we liked it or not. Food was overpriced and took 25 minutes to arrive, even bottled water. We had paid the food bill separately: four teas, dal rice and three chapatis, plus one rice, came to 1200. We then asked for a 200 rupee discount on the amount still due after the advance. Staff refused and said we had to pay or they wouldn't let us check out. It was a horrible experience.

A spacious place to stay, right in the heart of Tansen. Good option.

The comfortable mattress was the one bright spot. Our family room had just one towel and it was dirty and ragged, while the other room had a dirty toilet and no soap. There was no hot water, and the rooms were dingy and poorly maintained. Cheap doesn't always mean worth it, and I wouldn't recommend it to families with children.

The food was quite good, though the place seems to have lost some of its charm. My room smells bad and looks ordinary, despite being called a deluxe room. The rooms aren't up to standard, and I feel I'm paying too much for this kind of room.
