The views are the best on the island, and the place is bright, spotless, and uncluttered. The hosts are top-notch, with helpful advice and time whenever you need it. You can cook whenever you like while looking out at the ocean. No need to look anywhere else on Niue.

The open-air tub on the private upper balcony was the standout for me. I could soak there and watch dolphins playing in the waves. At Lau’s Getaway in Avatele, the two-level villas have private balconies with wide ocean views, and the adults-only setting was wonderfully peaceful. We also had a super king bed, a double-head shower, and a breakfast hamper and wine waiting for us when we arrived.

I loved having an outdoor tub, and the breakfast things Avi and Lau left for us were delicious. They were also glad to help with anything we needed. The townhouse was private, spacious, clean, and surrounded by bush, with lovely ocean views from both floors. The kitchen had everything we could need, and the bathroom was large. I think that was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in, and it faced the ocean. I'd happily stay again.

The scent of frangipani and the wide Pacific views from the living room and upstairs bedroom made this feel like paradise. On Saturday morning, we were lucky enough to see nine pairs of humpback whales go by, each with a pregnant female and her male escort. Unforgettable!

We spent hours reading, sleeping, and watching dolphins and seabirds from Lau’s Getaway. The place really earns its name, and we'd recommend it to anyone wanting a break from everyday life. Avi and Lau were considerate hosts, ready to answer questions and share a little about island life while giving us the privacy we wanted. Hiring a car, as Avi suggested, was a good call. We didn't need it every day, but it helped us get supplies in Alofi, explore the island, and go out for meals. Watch out for the potholes, some are incredibly deep, but that's part of Niue's charm. We also enjoyed Kaiika Sushi, with its Japanese chef and first-class food, plus New York-style pizza for anyone who doesn't like raw fish. Washaway bar was fun too, open only on Sunday afternoons, with an honesty bar and simple, good food. We met locals and other visitors drawn to Niue because it isn't packed with tourists. From booking Laus Getaway through to our airport pickup, everything went smoothly. The photos are true to life, and our week there was one of the most relaxing holidays we've had.
