Scenic Matavai Resort Niue

You really need a car to get to all the beautiful spots around Niue. We visited out of season and found it peaceful and relaxing. The cave beneath the hotel was beautiful to visit, swim in, and sit watching the fish and sea snakes. Our room had everything we needed, the bed was very comfortable, and everything was well maintained. The staff were polite, attentive, helpful, and great. Food was delicious and portions generous. We had an amazing time and couldn't complain about anything.

The food forest is a special new addition, and Flo's passion and vision really bring the idea to life. The pool bar is another highlight, Shadow makes what are easily the island's best cocktails. We loved waking up to ocean views, seeing sunsets that hardly looked real, and enjoying the peaceful, welcoming atmosphere. The new menus are fresh, vibrant, and full of flavor, with a lot of thought behind the dining. The people are what make Scenic Matavai Resort special. Sala, Posa, Belinda, Tamasi, Toli, and Lemani gave us such warm, genuine service, and James led the team with real pride in what they do. We felt at home in every interaction. Amazing stay, and we'll definitely be back.

The spinner dolphins stayed in front of Scenic Matavai for most of my week there, and the ocean views, especially at sunset, were idyllic. I loved how the staff got to know me, remembered my room, and asked about my day. They also gave great advice about the island whenever I needed it. My room was clean, beautifully appointed, and had an amazing ocean view. The cocktails were delicious, and the restaurant food was wonderful. My favorite was grilled fish and chips made with freshly caught yellow fin tuna. Such a lovely stay, I'll be back!

The staff at Scenic Matavai are the reason this was such an easy five-star rating. James, the general manager, along with Shadow, Sala, Papu, and the rest of the team, were genuinely friendly and committed to making our stay as good as it could be. The rooms aren't the plushest, but everything else exceeded expectations. The restaurant had excellent food at reasonable prices, and the resort layout makes the most of the ocean views. Our cliff-top room was the perfect place to watch the sunset. James, thanks for the Super Bowl. We'll be back.
