Hopewell Lodge

Our room looked out over the bay, with a great bed and all the comforts we needed. The shared spaces were excellent too, including a massive, fully equipped kitchen, a lounge and outdoor areas. There are swimming spots, water activities including kayaks and boats, a hot tub overlooking the bay, glow worms at the gate, and a golf course just down the road. We had a fabulous couple of days at the Lodge and felt warmly welcomed and well looked after. It's a unique property, and Lynley and Mike deserve a lot of credit for creating and running it. We plan to come back next year for longer. Book in as soon as you can!

We loved getting out on the paddle boards, kayaks and bikes provided on site, then relaxing in the cozy seating areas or the hot tub with those stunning sea views. The property was peaceful, picturesque, clean and comfortable. Mike and Linley welcomed us so warmly and generously. It felt like paradise, and we enjoyed every moment. Thanks so much for a wonderful stay. We hope to come back soon.

The location was absolutely beautiful, and our two nights here while travelling through New Zealand were a highlight. The owners were truly amazing, warm, genuine and welcoming. Mike and Lynley made the whole holiday special with their calm, welcoming energy, heartfelt service and generosity. We'll remember their kindness and are grateful for it. They even put on a huge mussel feast while we were there. I'm from Atlantic Canada, and I don't say this lightly: it was the best mussel feed I've ever had. Make sure you try the Hopewell Lodge home made bread too! My wife and I spent five nights at Hopewell lodge during our month-long New Zealand getaway, and it was the highlight of the entire trip. The place sits in a gorgeous little cove, with several buildings and different room arrangements, some with ensuites and some without. It isn't luxurious, but it's ultra clean and lovely for sleeping or sitting on the deck over the water with expertly made espresso-based coffee. The shared cooking and dining space was easily the best kitchen I've ever cooked in, with stainless steel benches, top-quality utensils and cooking equipment, stoves and ovens. It was spotless, with plenty of storage and fridge space. There's no TV by design, but the internet is good if you need it. The common room is a nice place for small or large groups to gather for a yarn or one of the many board games. Nearby, we could swim in the sound, walk local tracks, play golf on fabulous greens, or relax in the hot tub. Stand-up paddle boards and kayaks were available too.
