Trelawn Place

We could enjoy a relaxing evening at the stone cottage and have breakfast overlooking the river the next morning. It was a very private, peaceful spot, and the hosts were helpful while remaining respectful. The cottage was a perfect base for our family of four adults, with an ideal location for exploring Queenstown and Glenorchy.

We stayed at Trelawn for 3 days in Feb 2024, and we’ll be back soon. The hosts made our multicultural group feel so welcome. The view is fantastic, especially from the Tree House, where a postage stamp-sized framed view of the river felt like a special touch. The three Corgi dogs are gentle and friendly, and happily come by to say good morning.

The West Cottage felt like an old house from a fairytale. Its small, cosy sitting room, bedroom, and attic room made us feel at home. The garden had old world charm, with well-kept lawns, colourful roses, and apple trees. The views were amazing, too. If I get another chance, I’ll definitely come back and spend more time here. The view was beautiful, and the venue looked lovely. But the owners’ treatment of guests left us not wanting to return. We were there for friends’ wedding, where family, friends, and children were naturally present. The male owner seemed not to like kids. He kept moaning about them and telling them off rudely and unkindly. The female owner made a kind gesture by inviting us to have lunch inside her lovely home after the ceremony when it was raining. We didn’t even get to finish the wedding celebration. The male owner again acted rudely and inappropriately when he barged into the couple’s cottage and started taking their belongings outside, saying they were overstaying. He should have spoken to them politely instead of barging in. We were forced to end the celebration and wanted to leave immediately. The married couple felt terrible about how the owner treated them and us as their guests. As customers, we’ll never forget our experience with the hosts, especially the male owner.
