Rockfield Motel

The room was warm and tidy, and the price was good. The woman who came to reception was kind and friendly. The blankets felt a bit thin, though, and there wasn’t a hairdryer in the room.

The room was more spacious than expected because Sam moved us into a larger one after a cancellation, and he’d already arranged an earlier check-in for 1pm. He even texted that morning to ask when we’d arrive, which helped since I hadn’t looked up where we were staying yet. He’s one of the nicest, most conscientious moteliers I’ve met in the last few years of travelling. We picked the motel for its easy 1.4km walk to Mt Smart Stadium, Up Dah Wahs. It’s an older property, and at that price I wasn’t expecting anything fancy. The flooring had recently been replaced, the bed was really comfortable, and there was a full range of Sky TV. I’ll come back next time I head to Mt Smart.

The owner was really friendly. It’s a simple, clean and comfortable place, in a good spot that stays quiet and away from traffic.

They clean the rooms every day while we’re out, and we come back to fresh towels and floor mats. Sometimes the staff have noticed something we needed and left it for us, too. They’re so friendly and helpful, and we’re grateful to have had such a safe, wonderful place to stay. The studio is on the small side, but plenty big enough for two. It’s spotless and really nice. The location worked well for us, with Sylvia park and dressmart nearby and the city not too far away. We’ll definitely be back!
