Grasmere Lodge

The setting is beautiful, with mountains and snow in the backdrop, lovely grounds, and fresh spring-fed water. You can spot some farm animals on the drive in. Lunch was delicious: we had the chicken pasta special and pizza, then desserts that were delicious too. Much of the food is made fresh on the farm, including pasta, pizza dough, and bread baked that morning; they also grow herbs and raise some of the meat. The waiter was really friendly, and there’s a great drinks menu. Prices were very reasonable: two mains, two desserts, and three drinks came to just over $100. Highly recommend, and it looks like a lovely place to stay.

Seeing the working farm was a highlight. We were able to look around, scratch and feed the animals, and the website’s pictures and description really do reflect this stunning part of NZ. We stayed over NYE and felt thoroughly spoilt celebrating the New Year here. One person in our group had complex dietary needs, including coeliac requirements. Chef Glen spoke with her personally and made sure those needs could be met, with food to the same quality and standard as everyone else’s. Thank you 💖 Glen, Tanya, and Harry, thanks for a truly memorable stay. I can’t recommend Grasmere Lodge highly enough.

Chris made the best meal of our three-week trip around the South Island, and it was only breakfast. The hosts and staff were warm and gracious from the moment we arrived. Grasmere sits on a beautiful, expansive farm in the breathtaking Arthur’s Pass region, and the property has a quiet, understated elegance that’s hard to put into words. It feels unpretentious and grounding, and we found our stay unforgettable. We highly recommend it to anyone passing through.

Our tour group, Luxury Woman's Tours, arranged lunch at Grasmere Lodge today, and I hope I can come back one day. The fireplace and dining room were beautiful, and everything about the food and service was outstanding. I can’t speak highly enough of the staff, the meal, and the whole experience.
