The Jolly Poacher Retreat

The cottage was clean, with a lovely terrace, flowers all around, and sheep just outside the window. It’s set in beautiful nature, and breakfast was included and excellent. Helen and Dave were fantastic hosts. I’d recommend it to anyone, and only wish we could’ve stayed longer 🙏

We felt welcome straight away, thanks to Helen and Dave, who were so friendly and accommodating. The rooms and gardens were lovely and clearly well cared for. They also served a wonderful breakfast each morning. I’d happily recommend the fly fishing cottage for a future stay.

Everything you need is in this lovely two bedroom lodge. It’s a little way outside Blenheim, so it’s wonderfully peaceful and quiet.

Breakfast arrived right at the cabin each morning on a tablet, which was really handy and a great way to start the day. There’s also a microwave if you’d like to prepare something yourself, giving you a bit of flexibility while keeping things comfortable. The cabins sit in a small park, so it’s peaceful and easy to switch off. I especially liked that each one had its own look, either "Hunting" or "Fishing," with carefully chosen antiques that gave them a distinctive atmosphere. Everything was spotless and well looked after, and you could tell the details had been considered.
