315 motel Riccarton

The room was modern, the bed was nice to rest on, and the hot shower kept me warm in the cold. I do have to mention an odd interaction at the washing machine: the person there told me with a black face that it closes at 7pm, and said she could wash our clothes after closing if I gave her $20. But we'd lost something there, and when we came back, she kindly gave it to us.

We stayed four nights. The motel is reasonably modern and centrally located, with friendly staff and easy access to food and supermarkets. We had a back room on a busy main road and heard no road noise. The bed was OK, though it had a hollow on one side. The front door handle was a bit janky. The TVs had their HDMI ports removed and weren't smart TVs. There were only three sets of cutlery and plates. We hoped to make bacon and eggs for breakfast, but eggs were banned.

The room was clean and reasonably priced. Good location and very friendly staff.

The location worked really well, just a couple of minutes by car from Westfield Riccarton, and having free parking right at the motel was handy. My room was spotless and comfortable, with a good bed and a heat pump that kept it cozy. The place is small, but it’s clearly well cared for, and the receptionist was exceptionally friendly. The bathroom heater didn’t work, though, so it felt chilly in there in winter. Apart from that, a lovely spot for a short Christchurch stay.
