Beach Life Apartments

The apartment felt very dated and clearly needs updating. The website photos seem to be around 10 years old and don’t show its current condition, so the place didn’t match what we expected from the online presentation. Several parts also seemed poorly maintained. The beds were hard and sagging, the pillows were very poor, and the shower wasn’t comfortable. Overall, the apartment fell short of the comfort and quality we expected.

The air conditioning roars like a jet taking off, and there’s little care or thought in how the rooms have been managed. Despite being advertised as executive accommodation with beach views, there’s nothing executive about the place. It feels as if the building was left behind after the 2011 earthquake and only recently brought back into use. The bathroom looks like a renovation that was abandoned halfway through, with exposed finishes and details nobody returned to complete. Using it feels like dealing with the results of some very poor decisions. Furniture is scarce, and what’s there is worn and mismatched. The place seems to have been put into service before it was properly finished, cleaned, or prepared for paying guests. It’s hard to come away with anything but disappointment.

The view was good, and the apartment had everything we needed. It was great value for an affordable stay.

The staff member was accommodating, which was the one good part of our stay. Getting into the place took 5-10 minutes of fiddling with the first door’s lock, and the sliding door wouldn’t lock at all. Inside, there was hardly any cooking equipment, and the handles on what was provided were very loose. The cupboards were crooked and loose too. The shower door had come off its hinges and wouldn’t shut properly, while the old mattresses need replacing. The photos looked great, but the accommodation was completely different in person and had a lot needing attention.
