Golden Hotel

Riccarton Rd can get busy, so the off-street parking was important. The staff were super friendly, and our Level 3 room was well appointed, with a very comfortable bed, crisp cotton sheets, and a large, powerful shower. The price was reasonable too. There's a great range of Asian restaurants and food stores nearby, right in the middle of the Asian quarter, and the city and shopping are close. A surprisingly good place to stay. We'll come here again.

We used Golden as a base at both the beginning and end of our South Island trip, and it really felt like a home away from home. The rooms were well kept, clean, quiet, and had a huge TV. The beds were comfortable, too. The receptionist, who I assume was the owner, was kind and welcoming. We were pleasantly surprised by a free upgrade, which gave the two of us lots of room. Highly recommend.

We had a very comfortable, quiet night in a clean room with plenty of space, two lounge chairs, a pantry for simple cooking, and a big TV. The bathroom was good too, and there was nothing about the room that bothered us. We did hear trucks and buses early in the morning, so road facing rooms may get some noise. Check-in took just a few minutes since our names and rooms were already allocated. Parking felt a little tight, and if the place is full there may not be enough spaces. We saw some guests using the accessible spaces later at night. The location between the airport and city centre and the good price made it a great stay. We’d come back without hesitation.

The bathroom was lovely, especially the great shower and really soft towels. Our room was welcoming, clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed, plus a bit more. I’d definitely recommend staying here and would come back.
