Golden Star Motel

We stayed as a group of six on two occasions and got to try different room layouts, including the two bedroom unit. Every room was quiet, and the beds and linen were lovely and comfortable. There are lots of thoughtful touches, like a bathroom hook for clothes, a full length mirror, bedside lamps with reading lights, and an extra blanket in the cupboard. The rooms also have Sky TV, wifi, and a heat pump. Breakfast options were generous and reasonably priced at $15. The laundry was a bonus, with a quality Bosche washing machine costing $4 to wash and $4 to dry. Staff were friendly and helpful, and there are plenty of restaurants close by. The TranzAlpine train station is also very close. Highly, highly recommend this motel.

There are shops and places to eat within walking distance, and public transport is nearby. Walking into the city is manageable too. We only stayed briefly, but it was very good: the rooms were spacious, quiet, and comfortable, and staff were helpful when we needed them. I’d recommend it if you’re looking to stay on the edge of the city.

We had great service and thought it was excellent value. The motel is modern, clean, comfortable, and well equipped. There really wasn’t anything to fault. Wish we could’ve stayed longer.

We could walk to a mall for breakfast or snacks, and the price was very reasonable. Our room was clean and comfortable, just right for a short stop in Christchurch. We arrived after midnight, but the staff arranged self entry, so getting in late was stress free. They also let us check out a little later, which we appreciated. A simple, clean, well run place. Highly recommend.
