Hotel Elms Christchurch, an Ascend Collection Hotel

The terrace could have used a clean: there were old takeaway coffee cups in a little empty pot, ants, and quite a few spider webs on the doors. I understand outdoor spaces are harder to keep up, but it looked like it hadn’t been cleaned recently. The menu on the TV also seemed out of date. Apart from those small things, our New Year’s stay was fantastic, and we felt we got more than we paid for. We had a spacious, beautifully arranged apartment with a terrace, a great spa bath, and a cosy, incredibly comfortable bed. Reception staff were friendly and smiling from the moment we arrived. Room service was excellent too, beautifully presented and delicious, especially the crème brûlée. We’d happily stay again and recommend Hotel Elms in Christchurch.

I’ve stayed here a few times with a large group, and each time the rooms were clean, spacious, and well maintained. Mr.Simon, the operation manager, and his team take real care to make sure guests are looked after. Service really does seem non-negotiable here. They leave good-quality tea, coffee, and hot chocolate in the rooms, along with complimentary water bottles and milk cartons. That stood out to me, since many hotels in New Zealand just have tap water to refill, as the water is potable. The breakfast buffet is decent too. Looking forward to coming back to enjoy their service again. Kudos Elms!

I’ll definitely be back. The food was incredible, and the staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. My room was beautifully presented, spotless, and had an unbelievably comfortable bed. The Elms Hotel gave me a perfect stay from beginning to end, and I can’t recommend it highly enough.

The house manager handled a problem with my reservation professionally and was extremely helpful. They arranged an early check-in for us for a small extra charge, which was much appreciated after our journey. We didn’t eat at the hotel restaurant, though it looked quite good. Just be aware there’s no bellboy service, so you’ll need to carry your own bags. We stayed at Hotel Elms Christchurch last December and had a very pleasant time. The staff were welcoming, and we thought it was one of the better affordable places to stay in Christchurch. Great value and customer service, and I’d recommend it to visitors.
