Kauri Motel

Quiet, clean, and close to everything. The spa bath was the best I’ve tried in Christchurch!

Our relatives had larger, brighter rooms, though there were ants in the bathroom of their upstairs room. We were in Room 23, which felt cramped and quite dark because its window was tiny. It smelled damp, and we had to keep the light on during the day. If we came back, I’d definitely ask to see the room first.

The room was clean and tastefully decorated, and very reasonably priced. It was also already warm when we arrived on a particularly cold day, which we appreciated. The young couple hosting us were lovely, along with their two delightful children. Riccarton Mall is within walking distance. We’d highly recommend this convenient spot and will return, if only to see those hosts again.

We’ve stayed here a couple of times and plan to keep using it as our Christchurch stopover. Bryan & Nicki had the heat pump running, so after our 8hr drive the room was lovely and warm. We stayed several nights and appreciated getting a discount. The rooms are small but clean, modern, and comfortable enough, with a large super king bed, air-conditioning, and plenty Sky channels. The best mall in the south is right at your back door, and there’s good security and ample secure parking. We’ll be back in September. Phil and Elly
