Sam, the head cleaner and manager, was really helpful. We chatted about the town, and her local tips saved us money and hassle. The owners clearly care about their guests, from check-in through checkout, and paid attention to the details. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable, with the heater already on to make it warm and cosy. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the owners left free milk and bread, a thoughtful touch we hadn’t often seen in New Zealand. One of our best stays in the country. Thanks for having us at your beautiful place.

The room on the second floor was especially cosy, with views over the city to the Harbour. Though it was midwinter, it stayed toasty warm, and the bed was comfy. There was a desk, armchair, jug, microwave and fridge in the room, and a piping hot shower across the hall. It’s a quick walk to the central city and great value at such an economical price. The renovated old home is up a steep driveway off Cargill Street. A real find!

It felt a bit like a boarding house, with small rooms and a bit of a hike to get there. The helpline was rather frosty. Still, it was warm, the showers were good, and it’s decent value if you’re on a budget.

We got a free upgrade to a private deluxe room, kept spotless and well maintained, with a lovely sun nook. From the top of one of Dunedin’s many hills, the view was beautiful. It’s hostel-style accommodation with no staff onsite. The bathroom was cramped, though the shower was a good size. You can walk to the city centre and attractions like Otago Museum, botanic garden and historic railway, if you don’t mind the hills.
