We spent five nights here and loved the nostalgic feel. If you’re after modern conveniences, it may not suit you, but the Old Forge has plenty of old-fashioned charm. The wood fires keep everything toasty, and there are lots of games and a huge record collection. Fairlie is close to Mt Dobson, and of course, the 'pies'.

We were really looking forward to staying, but a serious injury meant we couldn't go. Chris was absolutely amazing when we had to change our plans, with excellent communication and so much help. We'll rebook and hope to finally spend time there in the future.

If you like learning the history of a place, this is a great spot to stay. The house is clean, tidy, well managed, and close to amenities.

A cosy place to settle in, light the fire and put on some old records.

This welcoming country-style place has what you need for a trip, including kitchenware, a washing machine and toiletries. As with accommodation anywhere in New Zealand, bring your own toothbrush and toothpaste. I’d recommend staying here.
