Glenorchy Lake House was a perfect base for exploring this pristine part of the world. We’re a family of four with two young adult children, and the house, along with the exceptional Akin Cafe next door, worked perfectly for us. It’s such a beautifully cared-for home and exceeded the expectations we had after researching it. Cannot recommend it more highly. Kinloch Wilderness Experience (Kinloch Lodge) owns and operates the house. That place is equally exquisite. We did an incredible kayak tour there with James, and the restaurant is fantastic.

If I’m in the region again, I’d stay here. Glenorchy Lake House is in a perfect location, the rooms are lovely, and the spa was great for a soak after days away tramping. The booking was let down by a few things. There was no compendium, I had to ask for milk, and the entry code didn’t arrive until well after official check-in. I’d requested to go in earlier but wasn’t allowed. They said cleaning might still be underway, but there had been no one at the property since 11am when we arrived, so they could have been more accommodating.

There was plenty of space for all six of us, and the house was spotless and very comfortable. Breakfast was included and generous: big jars of delicious homemade jams, honey, croissants, fresh fruit, muesli, lovely grainy bread that looked homemade, eggs that looked home-laid, and delicious good-quality bacon. You also get a free coffee from The Trading Post right next door. The Lakehouse is fabulous, right by the lake and the Glenorchy Lagoon Walk. Highly recommend this gorgeous place.

We had a beautiful time away here in winter, and the house was so warm. We arranged massages, then strolled over the lake and sat on a bench with wine and food before enjoying the spa. The lady next door at the cafe was lovely. Thankyou for having us x

The owner stocked the fridge so we could make our own breakfast, and the lake house had all the necessary amenities. It was beautiful. The outdoor jacuzzi was covered and powered off, so I wasn’t entirely sure whether guests were allowed to use it.
