The host really made the stay special. They were warm, welcoming and attentive, and went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable. Their local knowledge was excellent, and they were happy to suggest good sights, activities and experiences nearby. Pioneer Motel is well placed for exploring the area, while still feeling peaceful and relaxed. The décor was tasteful, and the room felt comfortable and a step above the usual motel. It was also immaculate, clearly kept with great care, and great value for money. After four weeks travelling around New Zealand and staying in all sorts of places, this was the clear standout. Pioneer Motel in Collingwood set a higher standard than most motels and hotels I've experienced. It felt like more than a stopover, and was the best accommodation of my trip by a clear margin. The proprietor was friendly and really accommodating, and the motel had everything I could want for a stay. Its location was perfect for all the things we were doing in Collingwood. Best motel I've stayed in. A+++++

Such nice hosts. We stayed two nights in a clean, pleasant studio. When we left, the owner asked what we were doing that day, and we mentioned we planned to kayak in the inlet for a bit. After we got back, our shampoo and body wash were waiting on our car's window screen. We'd forgotten them in the shower, and the owner had gone to the inlet car park and found our car to return them. So thoughtful!

We spent a week here and got friendly, excellent service every day. The beds were comfy, there were plenty of kitchen utensils, and the room was cleaned regularly. They also gave us useful advice about tourism. Highly recommend this motel.

We loved staying here, and the hosts were really friendly and awesome. My husband is tall, though, so the bed was too short for him. Would recommend.
