Kaye has looked after us here for more than 15 years. The motel is handy to town, consistently clean and has good facilities. She’s also very helpful. We’ve returned many times and recommend staying here without hesitation.

AVON Motel is right on SH3, called South Road as it runs through Hawera, so keep an eye out for the sign. Kaye will place you in a quiet back unit, and the rooms are comfortable. She’ll see you right, so go straight to her rather than using trivago. There’s late food nearby and EV chargers at Z less than a five-minute walk away. The locals are friendly, the streets are pleasant, and there’s an antiques shop on the corner for a morning wander. A supermarket is two blocks toward town, with the centre not far beyond it.

The unit was warm, spotless and had everything I needed. The woman at reception was friendly, and her suggestion for a solo dinner was spot on: I had a lovely meal at Rough Habits. I’d happily come back next time I’m in the area.
