We had a spotless, well equipped two-bedroom apartment for three nights over Waitangi Weekend with our three young-adult children. It was excellent value, with all the kitchen facilities we needed. Kerry Lane Motel sits in a peaceful spot with a lovely outlook, plenty of parking, and it was easy to find. We used it as a base to drive around Mt Taranaki, do several walks, explore the wider Taranaki region, and make an easy trip to Whanganui. Town is close, with supermarkets, places to eat, and takeaway options. The new manager made the stay especially memorable. She’s warm, empathetic, and clearly committed to making guests feel welcome. She spoke with real passion about her plans for the property, including making it comfortable for families and people in the disability community who may need extra care when travelling. Managing the motel while caring for her young family is a big undertaking, and it was inspiring to hear her story and see what she’s already achieved. Kerry Lane Motel is in good hands. We’d gladly return and recommend it to families exploring Mt Taranaki and the Taranaki region.

The garden side is so peaceful, and I loved catching glimpses of Mt Taranaki. It’s a handy place for anyone travelling through. I’d be happy to come back.

Management were so understanding and generous when my elderly brother was hospitalised the day after we arrived. We had to extend our stay by quite a bit, and their help turned a stressful situation into a lovely holiday, even though it wasn’t the trip we’d planned. We were there to visit family history sites and managed to see Kakaramea school, where my brother attended from 1933 to 1942. I believe Jacq Dwyer has posted photos of the school visit on the Kakaramea website. I couldn’t recommend this motel more.

Our dog had a great outside area to stretch her legs in the lovely grounds. The setting is beautiful, and the unit was roomy and well appointed. We’d definitely stay again.
