Cardno's Accommodation

The big glass sliding door gave us a clear view across the water, lovely for sunrise or sunset. The place is remote, yet close to Kaka Point, where you might be lucky enough to see blue-eyed penguins swim back to shore at dusk. Inside, everything was spotless, with a full kitchen, separate bedroom and living area, plus a good selection of teas. This was the most gorgeous place I stayed in New Zealand, and the view was even more breathtaking.

Laura was so kind and really helpful with planning what to see around the Catlins. We stayed one night in the studio, which had a modern feel and was professionally prepared for us. As we travelled down the South Island's east coast, Cardno's was the best accommodation we experienced. Highly recommended.

We wished we could have stayed another night, but it was already booked. Kaka Point is a lovely place to spend a day or two before or after the Catlins. Laura's place may be the nicest spot in this little town, and perhaps the only modern one. She’s clearly thought about what Yuku need for a relaxed holiday. The room has great views out over the sea and towards the Nugget point lighthouse.

Everything at Cardno's was beautifully decorated and looked after, and it was very clean, safe and cosy. We were there for several nights in January 2014, on holiday from the States, and the folks who ran it were generous, helpful and more than accommodating. I’d definitely recommend staying here.
