Kawau Lodge Boutique Resort

The booking had been confirmed, and we’d already made plans around it, so having it cancelled left me disappointed. I understand pricing errors can happen, but I’d hoped we could find a fair solution. I offered to pay more than the original rate, yet the property wanted a much higher price and said they’d cancel if I didn’t accept. I’d watched the rates for several days before booking and checked other dates through May. The price stayed consistent, so I assumed it was an off-peak deal, perhaps to encourage bookings while the cost of living is so high. I booked Kawau Lodge Boutique Resort through Booking.com in good faith, but the property later said it wouldn’t honour the confirmed reservation because of a “system error” with the pricing. After the owner responded, I wanted to clarify that this reflects my genuine experience as a customer, and I’m not trying to misrepresent what happened. The rate had been publicly available for an extended period. Even if the issue started with a third-party system, the reservation was cancelled instead of being honoured or meaningfully resolved. How that was handled is part of the customer experience, and I stand by my review. I’d advise others to double-check prices and be cautious, since a confirmed booking may not always be honoured.
