We stayed at the campground, where the facilities were superb, the host friendly, and the atmosphere really relaxed. It's close to Rainbow falls, a must see nearby, though the pictures don't do it justice. The gardens are so romantic, and what a beautiful little place. I can imagine it would be lovely for a wedding.

The ducks are totally out of control. One crept onto our deck by the river while my partner and I were having breakfast in the sun and watching fish swim past. I waved at it to keep it away from my food, and it bit my hand. It had brought duck friends along too, and I swear I saw them smirking. Someone needs to do something about these bully ducks! Aside from that, Pagoda Lodge was great. We stayed in a private glamping tent, basically a canvas walled sleep-out, very comfortable and equipped with everything we needed, even a fridge. The positioning was perfect. The owner was gracious and more accommodating than they needed to be. It's about a 30 minute walk to Kerikeri town, with a handy New World, along part of a bush walk. The Stone Store is nearby too. There are other walks around, including a pleasant two hour round trip to Rainbow Falls. Set expectations for a campsite rather than a resort. It has what you need, though not always everything you might want. The facilities block is outdoors, so nature is definitely present. It's charming and rustic, and the main deck and central dining area are a highlight.

I've been back quite a few times because there's something so restful and re-energizing about staying here. Stephen and Kathy are warm, kind-hearted, helpful hosts, and there's a great range of accommodation. Sitting by the gardens or out on the river deck is lovely for unwinding, with short and longer walking trails close by. This Easter break was just right for catching up on sleep, getting fresh air, reading, and relaxing before returning to the city. The place has everything you need for an easy, peaceful break. Highly recommend.

Stephen and Kathy are incredibly kind owners who make you feel at home. The Pagoda Lodge has beautiful scenery and is not far from town, with plenty of hikes nearby and kayaks for a fun day out. The caravans and glamping tents each have their own personality, and made for a comfortable stay. A lovely spot if you want to relax, and I highly recommend it.

Stephen made us feel very welcome when we arrived, and even gave us fresh milk so we could have a brew before going into town to stock up. Our tent was right down by the water, and the grounds were stunning, with well maintained facilities. It was a secluded spot and a nice escape. We stayed three nights in early November 2011. We'd planned to visit the Bay of Islands, but chose Pagoda Lodge over staying in Paihei because it looked too good to miss. Kerikeri is only a short bus ride from Paihei if you want to do activities there. The walk into Kerikeri takes around 20-30 minutes and is pleasant, with plenty of cafes, pubs, and restaurants. The Pear Tree, a pub and restaurant over the hill, is a 10-15 minute walk and well worth a visit.
