Galaxy Boutique Hotel

We stayed in a two-bedroom suite, and the ventilation was poor. The air-conditioning was only in the living room, while one bedroom had no windows and felt completely stuffy. Avoid this suite. We also left a bracelet on the table and called that same night for help. The front desk didn’t even try to look for it, just gave a blunt “No” over the phone. Their dismissive attitude hurt more than losing the item. The staff were rude, and the stay was the worst ever. Save your money for somewhere guests are treated with respect.

The room and lake view made the long drive from Christchurch worthwhile. Once the staff opened the door, I was taken aback by the view of Lake Tekapo from up there. The skylight was a nice touch too, though with a full moon and cloudy skies I couldn’t see the stars Tekapo is known for. The contemporary room was gorgeous, and the bathtub also looks out over the lake. The staff were cheerful and helpful, even though a couple were still training. Breakfast was mostly a fry-up, with your choice of amounts of tomatoes, bacon, sausages, hash browns, and so on. There was also continental food, bread, yogurt, and bananas, and I believe there’s a toaster and jams. There’s parking out front, but the car park was full despite some vacancies, so keep that in mind if you’re driving. Can’t wait to come back for more nights!

A terrific boutique hotel, close to the town center and lake. The room was a good size, modern, and had lovely lake views. Breakfast was good and the staff were very helpful. The stargazing setup is just a skylight with a screen, so if the weather cooperates you might see a couple of stars.

We really liked the room, and breakfast was great and included with room service. It’s close to town, and we’d happily recommend the place and stay again. I also appreciated that they got in touch right away when I’d left something at the hotel, so I could come back for it. Thanks!
