Rodman Star Apartment

We booked through airbnb and had a good experience. The place was comfortable, with high quality appliances. You can see a little of lake tekapo from the living room and backyard.

I hired houses around NZ regularly, and this was my absolute worst experience. We paid for a service we didn't receive, got appalling customer service, and I won't use or recommend the business again. The insulting follow-up asking how our stay at Rodman Star was called it a stay, but it was an epic fail and a blot on the 'Stay Home NZ' campaign. I was very disappointed with booking.com and Vera, who managed the booking. I booked for myself and my 16 yr old son, who's practically an adult, but the confirmation showed 1 x room and 1 x adult. It took over 24 hours to get an email reply to my question. When I called to clarify the accommodation, I learned that the large lounge shown in the photos, with its gas fire, apparently wasn't part of what we had booked. I said it wasn't suitable and canceled, but Vera said it was "too late to cancel". She offered two other properties that were similarly unsuitable, and I declined because they had construction beside them. When I asked for photos of the lounge, she again sent pictures of the larger, better-appointed room, along with the small corner couch and dining-table area I was actually getting. Be warned, the pictures and reality don't match. Vera's comment was "Backpackers advertise like that"?

The welcome instructions were clear, it was easy to find, and we felt safe and secure. We had lovely mountain views and a nice deck to unwind on after a busy day. The king size bed was really comfortable too. A great place to stop for a few nights.

The apartment was awesome and very roomy. It would've been nice to have a view from the bedroom, and a bit more deck space for sitting outside.
