MCentral Apartments Manukau

The manager didn’t seem to care when we pointed out the problems and showed him what was wrong. He dismissed our concerns, and I’d strongly recommend avoiding this place. The first room was filthy, with holes and strange stains on the walls, as if some liquid had been thrown there. The carpet was stained, there was mould in and around the shower, and the couch had stains and hair all over it. Even the skirting boards and window sills were dirty. The manager first offered to show us another room, which was only a little better. While we were packing to move, he called to say we couldn’t have it anymore because someone had specifically asked for level 5. He showed us a different room that was just as bad as the first. We said we wouldn’t stay in either and asked again for the level 5 room. He seemed annoyed, but eventually gave it to us. Easily the worst place I’ve ever stayed.

I stayed one night, then left. Be cautious booking here, and don’t recommend it unless you’re comfortable with a stranger getting into your room without proper precautions from staff. When I checked in, there was a complete stranger in the room. Staff told me she was a random woman who had snuck in while room service was being done and had been staying there secretly. They kicked her out, but left my room dirty and unsanitary and gave no compensation for the horrific inconvenience. The place smelled bad, and tiny smashed pieces of glass were scattered everywhere on the floor. They cut me. Who knows what they were from, maybe substance use by the stranger. Putrid. There were food crumbs on a stained, broken couch that weren’t ours, bits of hair, a stained dirty floor, and dirty dishes left by the person who snuck in. The walls were dirty too. There was also a camera facing directly into the room, which is illegal, by the way. Not safe or hygienic.

The building felt unsafe and creepy at times, and I wasn’t comfortable with the surroundings or the people around it. It’s right in front of the station, so it gets very noisy, especially at night. There’s no air conditioning either, making the apartment unbearable in summer. The bad smell hit me as soon as I arrived, and the lift was extremely dirty and smelled even worse. The same smell continued inside M Central Apartments. The apartment didn’t feel clean, and there were visible stains. It was a very uncomfortable stay, and I wouldn’t recommend M Central Apartments to anyone.

The location is definitely convenient, but after paying for the car park, there are better places for the same money. My room looked pretty tired, with minor damage and some lights that didn’t work. The couch had stains and holes, and the windows didn’t seal properly. In gusty wind they whistled quite loudly. I had to connect the TV myself to get it going. Reception could use some basics in customer service. Pretty average, really, and much like what other reviewers have said.
