The Barn Cabins & Camping

Our campervan spot was non-powered, and the location was amazing, right by the Abel Tasman reserve. We could walk to the kayaking companies, and there’s a nice bar just two minutes away with great pizza. The kitchen was excellent for cooking, and it was cool to find plenty of shared food left by previous campers. Would highly recommend!

The Weka room was spacious and cosy, and always just the right temperature. The smaller cabin we booked got too hot during the day, too cold at night, and was covered in condensation in the morning. There are lots of signs encouraging guests to keep things clean and tidy, though it could still be cleaner. I liked the little shop at reception, and the kitchen has drinkable water and a handy take-or-leave food shelf. The beach isn’t far, there’s great food down the road, and the views and fresh air are stunning. On the downside, it was very hard to reach someone when alarms were going off. Using the washer and dryer costs a lot, and the coffees from the cart seemed expensive for what they were. The wifi was questionable, and the showers kept switching between hot and cold every few seconds.

There are cabins, dorms, and spots for tents, caravans, and campervans here. It’s close to the beach, some amazing walks, and a nice nearby café. I think one toilet and shower block was quite new, which was really nice. The kitchen could use an upgrade, but otherwise it’s a great place.

The showers are spacious, but they’d be better with somewhere to sit, more room for clean clothes and belongings, and detachable shower heads. That’s a nitpicky improvement, though. We had an amazing stay in this one-of-a-kind holiday park location. There’s lots of space and everything you need, including a yoga area and beach volleyball court. The staff were lovely and helpful with recommendations. You’re going to have a great experience here!
