Bay Crest Motor Lodge

The owner was very friendly and helpful, and there’s free unlimited Wi-Fi and parking. It’s close to a great beach and restaurants. The large, apartment-like room was clean, and the kitchenette had dishes and cookware, a microwave, two-burner stove, mini-fridge, electric kettle, tea, coffee, hot chocolate and milk. The only slight drawback is the airport nearby, so planes fly in and take off close by. It doesn’t happen often, though, and it didn’t bother me.

We had a great stay, with exceptional hospitality and a handy location close to Tahunanui Beach. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a motel in Nelson.

Our wedding anniversary was ruined. We came back to our unit at 9:30 after dinner, and two friends were waiting while we changed so we could head back out. As soon as we got out of the taxi, the owner started yelling at us and our friends, apparently thinking we were going to have a party. It was completely uncalled for. We broke no rules, and the only person making noise was him. We were inside for two minutes to change. The room was budget quality, especially for the price, and absolutely disgusting. The next morning he kept saying he thought the whole thing was funny. We told him it wasn’t okay, and he said not to come back. I’m still not sure what we did wrong. Awful man and awful hotel.

The location made this my best motel stay in Nelson so far. Shops, the airport, golf course and beach are all convenient to get to. I’ll come back next time I’m in Nelson.
