The Prince Albert Backpackers & Bar

Food and drinks were tasty and reasonably priced, and the staff were really friendly. Getting checked in and out was simple. I had a great stay at Prince Albert Backpackers in Nelson and would definitely come back. Only small snag, there wasn't a power socket by the bed to charge my devices.

The shower was amazing, wow! It took a little while to heat up, but it was worth it. There were loads of power outlets, including one beside the bed. The hotel is super cute and has great facilities. Staff were friendly and welcoming, and the courtyard out back was lovely for sitting in the sun. The airport bus is just a short walk away, and the CBD is a nice stroll too.

I'd often been disappointed paying good money for pub meals that were lacklustre or easy enough to make at home. When you eat out, you want something beyond what you could do yourself, and The Prince Albert absolutely delivered. What a delight. It was my last chance for a family outing before heading back to Oz, and I treasured the whole evening. The food around the table was divine, and even the three-year-old tucked right into her meal. Thanks for such an enjoyable experience. I'll treasure it.

Food was great, but there are simple things that could improve the place. On both nights I stayed, two fire alarms went off at midnight, which really isn't okay when you have early starts. They need to work out which alarm is being triggered so they can fine people vaping in the showers. While packing, I checked under the bed and found personal lube, a shoe, empty water bottles and a lot of dirt that wasn't mine to keep.
