The State Hotel

AJ made check-in easy and gave us lots of useful information. We really enjoyed staying at The State Hotel, especially the super comfortable king bed. The room was in great shape and very clean. There’s a free laundry room on site with one washer and one dryer, plus complimentary washing powder. A few things to know about room 14: the bathroom was probably the smallest we’ve had while travelling, and the water kept swinging at random from ice cold to burning hot. The room also had only small windows high on the walls, which made it feel a bit like a basement despite being on the first floor. From what we saw, most rooms have standard windows. Even with those issues, we loved our stay and would totally recommend it. Thanks for the lovely two nights!

Restaurants and shops are very close, and the cycle hire shop is nearby too. AJ made us feel welcome at the State Hotel and shared lots of New Plymouth tips. The Festival of Lights, which AJ mentioned, turned out to be a highlight of our visit. Our room and bathroom were immaculate, and we especially liked being able to use the guest laundry for free whenever suited us. We’d definitely stay again. Thanks to AJ and the team.

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the location was great. The State Hotel felt luxurious without the hefty price, and it was probably the cleanest hotel we’ve stayed in. We’d never been to New Plymouth before and had such a lovely time. If we’re lucky enough to come back, we wouldn’t look for somewhere else to stay. Thanks for having us!

A special thanks to the gentleman who welcomed us when we arrived and helped with our luggage. His kindness and professionalism made a lovely first impression. We had a fantastic stay at The State Hotel over Christmas. The room was spotless, comfortable, and beautifully designed, with a warm, welcoming feel throughout. The room amenities were great, and the shower, hand wash, and shampoo choices were one of a kind. We’d happily return and highly recommend it.
