Ascot Oamaru Motel

It's a bit of a dive and overpriced. Two months later they sent me a bill claiming I hadn't paid. Luckily, I could check the internet banking records, and yes, I'd paid in full at the time.

We had a horrible stay at Ascot Motel Oamaru. My wife booked online, but the office was closed when we arrived. I called the duty manager, an elderly woman with a negative attitude, who told me off because she'd just left. She said we'd have to wait 40 minutes while she had tea. She arrived 38 minutes later and unlocked the office door from inside, but couldn't be bothered opening it to greet us after the wait. How rude. The room smelled and was noisy. Worse, carpet tacks were exposed in a long strip behind the kitchen bench, with no proper safety edging, and both my wife and I got puncture wounds on our heels. We ended up hobbling on the fronts of our feet. I can't understand what sort of owner would put guests in that situation. Since we'd booked online and already paid, we felt trapped and confused. The manager's name is Marjorie. She shouldn't be running a motel or treating guests this way, especially knowingly putting them in unsafe rooms where they'll be injured. We're disgusted and appalled at Ascot Motel Oamaru and strongly wouldn't recommend booking here.

It's in a good spot right next to a pub, and the staff were pleasant. The room was comfortable enough, apart from a strange smell.

Very clean and just right for what I needed. The bed was really comfortable.
