The veggie burger and fries were hot, fresh, and delicious, and made for a generous dinner at $17. The onion rings on top were another matter: their texture, taste, and appearance seemed like calamari to me. I checked with the staff, who assured me they were onion rings, but I left them uneaten. They were an extra, but this wasn’t ideal as a vegetarian. The restaurant was closed, though the bar was open and serving food. There were only a few people there on a Wednesday, which I expected. Staff were nice, the atmosphere was alright, and there was plenty of parking out front. I was happy with the visit to Catlins Inn overall and would recommend it.

We were a group of eight staying nearby, just a short walk away. The food was delicious, arrived in good time, and the prices made us very happy. If we pass through again, we’ll definitely come back.

The potato and sweet potato sides were a nice surprise, full of flavour, soft inside and crisp on the outside. I had the roast pork belly with apple sauce. It wasn’t too bad, though the meat didn’t seem roasted.

I had garlic bread, a margherita pizza, and veggie nachos. The nachos were really good. It’s a bit expensive, but everything else closes at 6 pm, and this place stays open into the evening. It’s one of the few dinner options in this remote area, especially if you want vegetarian food.
